Hate Crime in California 1995

- For 1995, the Department of Justice received reports detailing 1,754 hate crime events. Included in these events were 1,965 offenses, 2,626 victims, and 2,225 known suspects.
- 69.3 percent of the events occurred because of the race/ethnicity of the victim.
- Violent crimes accounted for 78.2 percent of known offenses. 
- 35.0 percent of the hate crimes occurred at a residence or the home of the victim.
