초록 『복합오염』은 1974년 10월 14일부터 1975년 6월 30일까지 8개월 반에 걸쳐 『아사히신문』 조간에 연재된 아리요시 사와코의 장편소설이다. 발표 당시에는 센세이셔널한 화제를 일으켰고, 현재까지 스테디셀러로서의 영향력이 있는 아리요시의 대표작이다. 본 연구에서는 신문 연재소설이라는 방식에 주목하여 아리요시가 본 소설을 통해 이루고자 한 의도를 파악하고, 작품에서 다루고 있는 내용들을 구체적으로 살펴봄으로써, 『복합오염』이 일본 사회의 문제들을 어떠한 방식으로 전달하였는지를 고찰하고 작품을 재평가하였다. The Complex Contamination is a novel by Ariyoshi Sawako, which was serialized in the Asahi Shimbun from October 14, 1974 to June 30, 1975. At the time of the announcement, it became a sensational topic and is the representative work of Ariyoshi, who is influential as a steady seller to this day. In this study, I reevaluated the work by focusing on the method of serialized newspaper fiction, understanding the intent that Ariyoshi tried to achieve through this work, and examining the specific content dealt with in the work to see how The Complex Contamination conveys the problems of Japanese society.
